Lost & Abandoned

I’m lost. I’m abandoned,
I am the eyes that look at you every day.
I am the one that looks at you through cages,
And waits for a kind word,
Water, food, and just maybe your hand to touch me
So I can feel a little secure,
That my loneliness and fear
Would subside for just a little while.
I am the lost. I am the abandoned,
I am the eyes that look at you every day.

I come to you filthy, scared, and bewildered.
I come to you in all shapes and sizes.
I come to you with a broken heart and yet still trust that maybe,
Just maybe, you will understand my plight.
I am the lost. I am the abandoned,
I am the eyes that look at you every day.

Teach me, and be with me
And don’t let them say I am shy or too dirty.
Teach me and I will be most loving and kind.
Don’t say like you have said too many times,
“There is not enough room and we don’t have the time.”
Please set an example and let others know that I am worthy.
If You don’t set the example how will others know?

If you hold me so precious within your sight,
Others will see me and it will work out alright.
Don’t you know, don’t you see?
My heart is breaking… please help me.
Don’t do as before and say it all right
It never will be if you take my life.

I am not a criminal. I just went astray.
